Was Thomas Jefferson a Liberal?

There are tons of quotes showing from Thomas Jefferson showing that he was a liberal. One of my favorites is:

Most, if not all, of our founding fathers were politically quite liberal. Conservatives don't like that so they have started a war to re-write history and alter the memory of our founders.
